SUMMARY:

The Coalition for Home Repair promotes the preservation of safe, healthy, affordable housing for all by supporting the work of home repair and rehabilitation partners nationwide. The Grants Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing and administering the Coalition’s government and private grants in support of our members home repair activities and education.  The employee also provides training and technical assistance for home repair nonprofits including federal grant subrecipients. The duties of this position are subject to change based on the needs of the organization and future grant funding. The Grants Compliance Officer reports to the Executive Director. This is a part-time, non-exempt, remote position requiring occasional travel.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Grant Compliance: Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures. 

  • Researches and interprets federal and state laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures which affect the administration of funding programs and disseminates information to Coalition staff and grant subrecipients.

  • Participates in virtual and in-person meetings with funders.

  • Makes timely changes in programs to adhere to new rules and regulations. 

  • Prepares for and conducts compliance reviews in a timely manner and according to established guidelines. 

  • Prepares and submits written reports of instances of non-compliance in a timely manner and submits them to the Executive Director and/or Board.

  • Maintains electronic compliance records and files, maintains and monitors a reporting calendar, and maintains an online archive of submitted program reports.

  • Develop policies and procedures for Coalition and pass through to subrecipients.

2) Finances: Works with Board, staff, and accounting firm to ensure the Coalition’s financial integrity.

  • Provides the monitoring and reporting of grant funds to ensure compliance with requirements.

  • Prepares and tracks grant disbursements.

  • Works with the Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper to maintain accounting records.

  • Responds to requests from Coalition staff and grants subrecipients about financial information.

  • Assists Coalition staff and Board with financial activities, including the annual audit and 990.

  • Assists the Executive Director in the development, revision, and monitoring of the budget.

3) Training & Technical Assistance:  Oversee educational programs for home repair grant subrecipients. 

  • With the Membership & Program Coordinator, identifies and builds learning and development training programs in alignment with grant program goals.

  • Participates in continuing education related to compliance, program evaluation, etc.

  • Performs other duties as needed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Background

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with grant management and compliance  (federal preferred). 

  • Familiarity with home repair, veterans, nonprofits, and/or leading educational programs.

  • Experience with managing organizational finances.

  • Experienced with functioning effectively in a highly computerized environment.

  • Comfortable using Google Docs, Forms, Spreadsheets, and/or Microsoft Office products (experience with Salesforce is a plus).

  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work remotely.
