Anti-Racism Community of Practice

Wednesday, May 4, 2022
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (EDT)
This meeting will be held via Zoom.
Category: Affinity Groups

This group began as an intensive cohort in spring 2021. We participated in a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) certification course through the University of South Florida. After that course ended, we shifted to an affinity group that meets every other month. The group's goal is to support each other in making home repair programs more anti-racist. We discuss DEI with regards to clients, volunteers, staff, and board. The discussion isn't limited only to matters related to race, but also gender, sexual orientation, varying abilites, etc.

In May, we'll start our meeting by watching and discussing the 17-minute film Segregated by Design, which is about the forgotten history of how our federal, state, and local governments unconstitutionally segregated every major metropolitan area in America through law and policy. (If you've already watched this, feel free to show up at 1:30pm EDT, when we'll transition to talking about DEI efforts that our organizations are making.)

Register before adding to calendar in order to ensure that the Zoom link will be included in the calendar invitation.
