Data & Learning

Data Tools for Collective Impact

One of our favorite phrases is "Together, we are stronger." That holds when it comes to the collective impact of home repair programs across the nation. Leveraging collective impact enables us to advocate for increased funds for home repairs and to help increase the capacity of local member organizations.

How We Support Data & Learning

As the national convener for home repair programs nationwide, we provide annual and project-based opportunities for quantitative and qualitative assessments. All members are invited to participate in the annual Impact Report Data Collection Program, which measures key outputs, demographics, and advocacy initiatives. Data programs are optional for members.

Data Design

The Coalition brings home repair providers alongside researchers to design accessible survey tools that meet the time and skill constraints of staff, with the validation of high-level research projects.

Some of our latest projects include:

  • Fall Prevention Assessment in collaboration with Homes Renewed Inc., and East Tennessee State University
  • Impact Report Data Collection Program

Data Collection

The Coalition aggregates data from members across the nation to capture collective impact. We support local members by:

  • Providing staff training on offering survey tools and data entry
  • Keeping records in our database
  • Documenting case studies of successful partnerships, program models, or pilot programs

Reporting

The Coalition creates independent and collaborative reports, so members can focus their time and efforts on program implementation. Some recent reports include:

  • 2025 Benchmarking Report
  • 6-month Fall Prevention Outcomes

In addition, staff often review the latest industry data and summarize notable takeaways for home repair.

Sharing & Advocacy

Ultimately, our data collection goals support our advocacy work to increase home repair funding nationwide. Our data has been used and presented in:

  • In meetings with federal and state legislators.
  • At the UN World Habitat Forums in Montreal, Canada, and Cairo, Egypt.
  • In national publications such as Shelterforce, Business Insider, and Yahoo Finance.
