Home Repair Project Manager Job Description

Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and revitalizing homes and communities across Greater Atlanta. As a local affiliate of Rebuilding Together National, RTA advances the mission to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives, with a vision of safe homes and communities for everyone. The organization focuses on serving low-income homeowners, particularly older adults, military veterans, and people with disabilities, so they can live in warmth, safety, and independence. Role Description

The Home Repair Project Manager is responsible for performing home assessments, managing projects, subcontractors, warehouse inventory, and composing scopes of work for your direct report and volunteers. This position interacts with several RTA staff members, skilled volunteers, nonskilled volunteers, and vendors to ensure quality services are delivered to clients.


Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Home Repair Project Manager plans work on various programs and related projects throughout the year. This will include planning the details of the project work scope through to final reporting. This role will also include direct supervision of volunteer individuals and/or team(s) on certain project days. The Home Repair Project Manager will perform home modification and repairs, post-work evaluations to ensure work is complete and well done and coordinate any follow-up work needed. The Home Repair Project Manager will work as part of our team to increase our capacity, efficiency and quality of services. 

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Construction Management, with demonstrated experience overseeing residential repair or renovation projects.
  • Candidates should possess effective Project Management and Project Coordination skills, including planning, scheduling, stakeholder communication, and documentation.
  • Candidates should possess solid Budgeting skills, with the ability to estimate costs, manage project expenses, and optimize resources.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and best practices in residential construction, particularly for repairs and accessibility modifications.
  • Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with homeowners, volunteers, contractors, and community partners in a respectful, inclusive manner.
  • Candidates should possess the ability to work on-site, manage multiple projects simultaneously, solve problems independently, and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Relevant experience in non-profit, community development, or housing rehabilitation is beneficial; construction-related certifications or licenses and familiarity with Atlanta-area permitting processes are a plus.
  • General Contractor license is desired but not required.
  • Working Condition and Environment/Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, climb flights of stairs and/or ladders, be able to complete repair activities involving pounding, turning and other range of motion activities Physical stamina and agility are required.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Position is hybrid from home, field, and office. Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
  • Travel between locations will be required; Attend and participate in mandatory trainings, staff meetings, and all other events as scheduled. Some weekends and evening work may be required.
