Member Interest Survey: USDA's Housing Preservation Grant
The USDA Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program is now open, with pre-applications due on Thursday, September 4, 2025. This grant program provides funding to organizations to repair or rehabilitate homes for low- and very low-income homeowners in eligible rural areas. Nonprofits, local governments, and tribal entities are eligible to apply.
With fewer grant opportunities available this year, the competition for HPG is expected to be even tougher. We want to make sure coalition members have every advantage possible to submit strong proposals.
Eligibility Overview
The HPG program funds organizations to operate housing preservation programs in rural areas. Funds can be used for grants or low-interest loans to repair, improve, or modernize homes, or to remove health and safety hazards. Applicants must serve low- and very low-income households and projects must take place in eligible rural areas with populations 20,000 or fewer.
Coalition Member Support Webinar
Tuesday, August 26th at 2:00 PM ET | Register
In past years, we’ve offered a support webinar for members new to HPG, featuring experienced applicants sharing tips and answering questions. Given this, we are asking our members to fill out a short survey, specifically organizations planning to apply and members who have applied previously and are willing to share their experience.
Your feedback will help us:
-
Gauge how many members plan to apply for HPG this year
-
Identify experienced members willing to serve as panelists
Estimated time to complete the survey: 2-3 minutes
By sharing your plans to apply and expertise, you’ll help Coalition members get more HPG dollars into the communities we serve!
