Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry named as Pinnacle of Excellence Award Winner
Wilmington, NC – The Coalition for Home Repair, the national coalition for home repair organizations in the United States, recently honored the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry with the Pinnacle of Excellence Award.
The Pinnacle of Excellence Award was presented in recognition of excellence in program management, homeowner services, operational efficiencies, communications, and volunteer engagement. Their notable work includes helping older adults age in place and securing key funding for housing and health initiatives. WARM NC has also been recognized by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency with the 2021 Housing North Carolina Award for Home Ownership and Rehabilitation and is a participant in the Healthy Opportunities Pilot Project, the nation’s first comprehensive effort to address housing and other social needs for high-needs Medicaid enrollees.
WARM NC works alongside churches, businesses, civic groups, municipalities, and other key partners to implement its mission. Since 1996, WARM NC has assisted over 2,600 families across seven Southeastern North Carolina counties.
“We are pleased to recognize the commitment of WARM NC to repair homes in seven counties in North Carolina,” said Freyja Harris, Coalition for Home Repair executive director. “Safe, healthy, affordable homes are fundamental to thriving communities. WARM NC is meeting that need with a home repair program carried out with excellence deserving of recognition from their peers across the nation.”
WARM NC joined the Coalition for Home Repair in 2017. WARM NC staff members have participated in various Coalition-led training programs including the Aging-in-Place cohort, ReFrame Conference, and the board of directors.
“At WARM NC, we believe safe housing is the foundation for healthy families and strong communities. Receiving the Pinnacle of Excellence Award is both a tremendous honor and an affirmation of the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and partners who work every day to ensure our neighbors can remain in their homes with dignity and security. Every repair we complete helps preserve affordable housing, prevent accidents, and restore independence for our neighbors. We are grateful to the Coalition for Home Repair for highlighting the importance of this mission so more families across Southeastern North Carolina can thrive in safe, healthy homes.”
