ROAD to Housing Act is Now Law

We are pleased to share that the ROAD to Housing Act has now become law. This enactment marks an important milestone for the home repair field, recognizing that preserving existing housing plays a crucial role in addressing the nation’s housing needs.

The law includes the Whole-Home Repairs Act (Sec. 202), one of the Coalition's long-standing federal advocacy priorities and a significant step toward strengthening national recognition and support for home repair. While details about funding and implementation will become clearer over time, this achievement creates an important opportunity to elevate the role of home repair in national housing conversations and inform future federal efforts. 

The final legislation also includes the PRICE Act (Sec. 304), which reauthorizes a grant program to support improvements in manufactured homes and manufactured housing communities, including home repairs, accessibility upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and other efforts that help preserve affordable homes. 

The inclusion of home repair in this legislation reflects years of work by home repair providers, advocates, researchers, philanthropic partners, policymakers, and other housing leaders who have consistently demonstrated that preserving existing homes is an essential part of the housing solution. We are grateful to Coalition members, partners, and congressional champions whose collective efforts helped elevate home repair throughout this process.

Implementation of the ROAD to Housing Act will take time, and the work to strengthen the home repair field continues. The Coalition for Home Repair looks forward to working alongside our members and partners as provisions are carried out and as we continue advocating for policies that preserve safe, healthy, and affordable housing across the country.
