Coalition for Home Repair Elevates Member Impact during National Homeownership Month

Posted By: Melanie Campbell News,

June is National Homeownership Month.

Coalition for Home Repair Members are making strides to preserve affordable housing stock across the country.

By the Numbers:

  • 120,000+ homes repaired

  • 450,00+ volunteers engaged in community services

  • 164,000+ total residents living in safer homes including 85,000 older adults, 9,000 veterans, and 55,000 people with disabilities.

As Coalition members, home repair nonprofits are investing in training and innovative solutions that benefit local communities long-term. While every community has unique needs, members are collectively tackling big issues like aging in place, affordable housing preservation, basic health principals, preserving generational wealth, and more.

In the 2021 American Housing Survey, which was sent to over 80,000 units across the country, we found that more than one-third, or 35.8 percent, of households nationwide reported at least one housing problem. With 130+ members across the country, Coalition members are preserving affordable housing stock through ensuring homes are safer and healthier.

As nonprofits face funding cuts, it’s more important than ever to stay connected and work together. The Coalition remains committed to advancing our policy goals. On June 17th, the Coalition will host a Preserving Home Capitol Hill Day where members will convene with legislators in Washington D.C. and in local communities.

The Coalition helps home repair nonprofits achieve their goals by securing direct resources, funding professional development and certifications, and highlighting national trends. Learn more about membership or schedule a discovery call with staff to see if membership is a fit.
